Allison Chinchar works as a forecaster of weather for CNN as well as HLN. She is frequently featured on CNN's "New Day Weekend' and HLN's 'Weekend Express', as well being a regular guest on CNN International programming. Prior to she joined CNN, in June of 2015, she was employed by many local radio stations including those in Atlanta as well as Nashville. She was a meteorologist for hurricanes and blizzards in addition to flooding and wildfires, and won an Emmy for the coverage she provided of Dorian. Dorian which struck the Bahamas in 2019. She also was a part of in the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, where more than 350 tornadoes hit on the Southeastern United States in just four days, with over 200 of those on April 27th. She has covered the effects of climate change but has also covered volcanic eruptions and earthquakes because of her expertise in environmental science. Chinchar earned a bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from The Ohio State University. Chinchar is a part of several organizations, including The American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
