Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public talker. Feminist Frequency is a site where you can find videos and other commentary on the representation of women in the media and in popular culture. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American journalist and critic that has received awards for her work. She is a feminist blogger. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which analyzes how females are represented within popular culture's narratives. Removing gender stereotypes is her primary goals. But, she also seeks to bring attention to things like harassment and targeted attacks on women who are online. Sarkeesian, who holds a Master's in Political and Social Theory from York University, is also an extremely sought-after public presenter. She has given speeches at TEDxWomen's XOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group for Gender. She was a fan of female issues as well as feminism from at a very young age. In 2009, when she was still at university, Sarkeesian launched the site Feminist Frequency. A woman who was ambitious set out to develop a web-series that would examine the gender roles in video games. However, she found herself as the victim of a cyber-bullying campaign. However, this did not discourage her. The experience only strengthened her reputation as a feminist journalist. Her significant contributions in the field of feminist are recognized with numerous prizes.
